Sunday September 16th Charter boat trip on miststress Linda out of poole. This was an inshore plaice/Ray trip. There were 6 poole Dolphins club members on board plus one guest.Weather conditions were dry with a S.W breeze,so a bit of movement on the water but still well fishable.we left the Quay at 8am sharp. All in good spirits, and glad to be out as our last two trips had been blown off.Phil took us east along the shore and we spent the morning drifting for plaice. These along with with some Gurnard and good hearted banter kept everyone happy.Lets not forget the numerous cups of tea from phil. Thanks phil.In the afternoon we moved over to the banks and put out the anchor down, change of tactics and bait for some Rays. These did not what to play although we had a nice Undulate and a small eyed. The last hour was spent back on light tackle trying to catch the small Bream that were taking the baits but not the hooks. At the end of the day we had a pleasant day afloat and were now looking forward to next trip in October.
Keep fishing Tony p

HiCharter boat report for Sunday Nov 12th.
This trip was booked as an I of Wight Cod / Whiting trip. Weather forecast was N or NW 5to 6. It was turned into a reefing trip for those that wanted to go. Plaice were still being caught.
Five of us left Custom House steps at 8am. Weather was cold but sun was shining. We spent the day drifting inshore marks for the Plaice and Gurnard. It was a bit slow but conditions were comfortable and the company was good. Phil kept the hot drinks coming. We spent the last hour on Durley rocks for the Minnie species and found plenty of Wrasse along with a good size Pollock. We all caught fish and returned to the Quay having enjoyed a good day afloat. Our thanks to Phil for a nice day.

Everyone caught but Phil showed us all the way home by boating 10. All returned alive. One Trigger was caught along with Wrasse, Garfish, Pout, Gurnard, Pollock, and lone Sole. Our thanks to Phil for a very good day. Flat calm sea and the sun came out.

Charter Boat Trip on Sunday August 27th
Trip booked as an I of W Bass trip With Triggers being the secondary target.
Four club members and four guests on board Mistress Linda.
The day turned out to be breezy ,sunny, and dry. Phil suggested scrapping the I of W as the tide was not running as predicted so with no tide the Bass would not be feeding.
Plan B. Out to Ballard and find a bank, hopefully some Mackeral along with some Bass. Bass did not turn up. One Ray for Danny.
Plan C along to Southbourne to see if the Triggers were around. No Triggers but plenty of Plaice along with a few Bream,Gurnard,Conger, small Tope,a Dab,and a couple of Garfish.
Next trip. Sunday Sept 17th. A reefing trip.
Results.
1st Jay Hemming.
2nd Phil Thomas.

Our latest charter trip took place on Sunday May 22nd aboard Mistress Linda, skipper Phil Higgins. This was classified as a Bream Trip. It also coinsided with the Poole Sea Angling Centre & Marina Club Open Boat Black Bream Competition. Several of us were fishing this comp also. Phil put us on the spot right from the word go.Good size Bream came into the boat from the start, many close to the minimum weigh in size of 2lb 4oz. Some good ground bait was put down and the size of fish improved. Soon we were catching 2lb plus Bream. Only the best were kept, with all the others returned to the water. The anglers were all in good spirits with several fancying their chances at the weigh in.The weather stayed reasonable with a couple of light showers and a light S W breeze. At the end of the day two of our anglers picked up prizes.Brian Moss came joint 3rd with a fish of 2 lb 13 oz and Keith trim 9th with a fish of 2 lb 8 ½. Phil was top charter skipper and was presented with the Pat Manley Trophy. This is a new trophy in memory of Pat who we all dearly respected. Rgds Tony P

on Sunday November 22nd. This was booked as a I.o.W Cod /Whiting trip and also incorporated the Poole Cod Competition for those who wished to fish it. The weather as all of you know did not look very good on the run up to the weekend. Then Sunday’s forecast came out and what a lovely window of opportunity opened up. Cod here we come.
I had 10 booked for the trip. 6 club members and 4 guests. It was going to be a bit busy on board but hey lets go for it ,last comp of the year. We all caught fish ,some of us were lucky to connect with Cod. Everyone had whiting of some sort but no big channels , and of course plenty of Doggies. 4 Cod came into the boat one was dropped. 3 were in for the cod comp. Nothing big, but nice to see. Mine was top weight on the boat at 7lb 14oz. It got me 7th place on the prize table. The weather stayed good for us, wind started to pick up as we headed for home. I hope everyone enjoyed the day . Our thanks to Phil for looking after us and finding the fish. Next years dates have been booked and will be circulated soon.
If I don’t see you all before Christmas. Happy Christmas to all of you and your families, and thank you for your support over the last year. Tony P

Every body looking forward to a nice quiet day drifting along the shore.Weather forecast reasonable, some cloud but possible sun in the afternoon,no rain. North easterly breeze. Nine of us on board.Five club members and four guests. All of us hoping that reports of Plaice and Gurnard being caught are true. Phil set up the drifts and sure enough the bites came nice and steady. Plaice and Gurnard coming into the boat along with the odd Dab, Wrasse, Red Mullet, Pollock, and Smoothound.Nothing huge, and majority of the fish returned alive. A very nice day was had by all and our thanks to Phil for putting us on the fish.
Result on the day. !st Tony Partridge, 2nd Danny Williamson, 3rd Phil Thomas, 4th Ted Wood, 5th Chris MacKenzie.

Two reports this month as I have been away.
Reefing trip on Mistress Linda Sunday August 30th. This trip was aimed at the Bass, but they did not want to play so Phil came along the front for a general reefing trip. All on board caught fish and had an enjoyable day. The catch consisted of Gurnard,Bream,Plaice,Triggers,Wrasse, Pout ,A John dory, one Smooth hound, plus a bonus fish of a Cod.

Wrecking trip. Sunday September 20th. Full boat again. Weather fine, and sunny. No rain forecast, light breeze. Phil asked us all to dig deep in the freezers for our old mackerel as we were going to anchor a wreck . Anchor in, baits over the side, very soon we had bites registering on the rods. First fish to the side of the boat a nice size Conger. So it went on for the rest of the morning and into the afternoon. Conger to 50lb. Undulate Rays to 13lb, Bull Huss to 13lb and a few nice Tope to aprox 35lb. Also add in the usual Pout ,Dogfish and Gurnard and all on board had a good days fishing. All the Conger, Tope, and Rays were returned to the water alive. The next trip is Sunday October 18th. All club members check your diaries and contact me if you want to come.

Reefing trip on Mistress Linda, skipper Phil Higgins.Weather reports were not good, with breezey conditions and rain forecast. It was decided to stay inshore or in the harbour.Conditions were trying but we stuck with it, drifting the fuel barge area for Plaice, the castle for Wrasse, the entrance for Bream and Bass, the Swash for Plaice, then back to the entrance and several stops up the harbour to finnish. We decided not to go out for Mackeral as the boats that did reported that it was decidedly unpleasant out in the bay.We had a good day despite the weather with 10 species including Bass,Plaice,Smoothound,Tope,Wrasse Pout,Gurnard, and some nice Bream. Our thanks to Phil for putting us on the marks and the hot drinks. My thanks to all the lads who came of which Chris MacKenzie and Phil Thomas were first timers with us. Our next trip is Sunday August 30th. This trip is booked as a Bass trip.Rgsd Tony P
