1st Private boat comp and RNLI flounder comp of 2024
Write a report the chairman said on what a wonderful day's fishing we had! Well I can't do that but it was a great day to be out. The sun was out and it wasn't as cold as it was forecast, although the finger tips would dispute that!
We were all fishing the Dolphin comp and the RNLI flounder comp in the harbour.
It was great to see so many boats out in the harbour and 40 people taking part in the RNLI flounder comp, boats from Winchester, Salisbury and Southampton and of course our local boats joined in. Most boats were moving to various spots in the harbour all day long desperately trying to find a flounder.
Sadly only three were caught and they're weren't very big!
Poole Dolphins picked up 1st and 2nd, after a 3 year layoff from fishing, Mike Holloway came back with a bang, with the winning fish, with Bobi Francis taking 2nd.
Fishing for our own comp wasn't very much better, fish just didn't want to play despite all the conditions being perfect.
Bass, whiting and flounders were the only fish caught
